Life Lately: What July Looked Like for Me

I’ve been wanting to go back to blogging the way I used to. Not just the brand collabs. I miss the real kind. Writing like I’m talking to a friend, writing just because. If I could do daily blogs again, I would. But for now, weekly sounds like a good place to start. So here’s what July looked like for me.

Most of it was spent planning Isaac’s second birthday. It was just a simple celebration with family, but I honestly enjoyed decorating and putting it all together. From choosing the colors to thinking about food, I found so much joy in the little parts. It wasn’t grand, but it was full of love.

Originally, we wanted to do a little staycation somewhere, just a quiet family getaway. But with the unpredictable weather lately, I had a feeling we wouldn’t enjoy it as much. So we decided to keep it simple and celebrate at home with family. Plus, Isaac has been obsessed with blowing out birthday candles lately. Every time we have cake in the house, he acts like it’s his birthday and gets so excited to blow out the candles. So having a celebration just for him at home felt like the perfect fit.

Another big moment this month was Isaac’s first time at an indoor playground. I’ve always been a little hesitant to let him play in public places, but I’m so glad I said yes this time. He had the best time running around with my husband and cousin while I sat nearby with my book. It turned out to be a really fun day for all of us.

Silent Book Club Meeting

I also got to attend my first Silent Book Club this month. I’ve seen these on TikTok and always thought they looked like my kind of thing, and they really were. We started with a quick round of introductions, shared what we were currently reading, and then settled into a quiet reading session. We even had time to journal, which made the whole experience feel intentional and cozy.

I went in expecting a quiet, solitary afternoon but ended up chatting and connecting with people more than I thought I would. After the reading session, a few of us stayed to talk about our books, swapped recommendations, and even shared a little about our lives. It felt refreshing to meet new people in such a relaxed, no-pressure setting. I left feeling recharged and reminded of how comforting it is to be in a space where everyone simply enjoys reading. I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Current Reads

As for reading, I only finished one book this July. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart was such a good read. I gave it a solid 5 stars.

Right now, I’m in the middle of Heartless by Elsie Silver. I’m enjoying the small-town cowboy vibes and slow-burn romance. I also just started Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez on my Kindle. It’s my first book by her and I’m really liking it so far. Hoping I can finish both before the month ends.

Looking Ahead

In the next few months, I really want to be more intentional with my time. I’d love to embrace slower days filled with things that matter to me: quiet mornings, unrushed afternoons, and more time with my little family. July reminded me how fast time flies, especially with a growing toddler, and I don’t want to miss the small everyday moments that make up a full life.

I’m hoping to write more regularly again. Maybe not every day like I used to, but enough to keep the habit going and to feel connected with this little space. Even if it’s just weekly updates or simple stories from home, I want to keep showing up here.

Thanks for reading and catching up with me. If you’ve made it to the end of this post, I’m sending you a big virtual hug.
