My Post Pandemic Plans + Local Travel Bucket List

July 15, 2020 in Life, Philippines, Travel

nicole san miguel post pandemic plans

If you are wondering when will this end, you’re not alone. A lot of things have changed since the lockdown has been lifted — businesses and public areas start to open up again, and most people slowly go back to working in their offices. We gradually transition to the “New Normal,” yet going out still scares me because there are still a number of cases out there. Until a safe, effective vaccine is available, there will continue to be a risk of infection. What are your post-pandemic plans?

Even though the new normal sounds scary and jarring, our life should move forward. What should we do? We have to change our behavior to prevent the spread of the virus. Let’s continue practicing social distancing, wearing a face mask, hand washing, safe grocery shopping and food handling, and being mindful. Do not go out if it’s not necessary. Maybe these small efforts will result in a better situation for all of us. As with anything, a little goes a long way, right? When this is all over, Let’s all take part in restoring our community.

Earlier this year, I made plans on how I can make my year fruitful, but like most of you, those plans were set aside. So now, I decided to share with you what are my post-pandemic plans to help myself and the community bounce back.

Support Small and Local Businesses

Local Businesses need us now more than ever. We can show our care for the community we live in by supporting them. It’ll give the local economy a chance to thrive. It’s also my way of giving thanks because they go out every day and trying their best to make an honest living despite the global pandemic. Another way of showing my support is by promoting them on my social media platforms by posting and sharing about their products, promos, etc.

Produce Positive Content for my Readers

The news is making us feel anxious. In times like this, we need an antidote to keep our positive attitude and move forward with determination and hope. This is why I decided to write a positive content for you to feel inspired and motivated in my little way.

Explore more of the Philippines

There may be no better place to explore than my own country graced by dazzling beaches and historical sites. After this pandemic, I will support our local tourism by traveling to domestic places. It is safer and more affordable. I can’t wait to explore our local tourist destinations, eat local cuisines, support homegrown products, and help our economy move forward. I will take this opportunity to accomplish my local travel bucket list.

My Local Travel Bucket List

  • Go back to San Juan Beach in La Union, learn how to surf, nd try all their famous local restaurants.
  • Explore Siargao and stay in a Tiny House for a month.
  • Road trip to Baguio with Family and Friends.

  • Climb and witness the sea of clouds of Mt. Pulag.
  • Visit the historical spots in Ilocos.
  • Explore the beautiful city of Cebu and Bohol.
  • Watch the sunset in Boracay.
  • Experience the underground river in Puerto Princesa and explore nearby beaches.
  • See the mighty stone houses and beautiful hills of Batanes.
  • Explore the Beauty of Mindanao.

Let’s travel again soon! I hope this post has inspired you to think of ways on how you can rebuild yourself and the country. This year has proved to us that the plans of God will always prevail. Everything will work out in the end. We just need to trust His timing.

I am definitely booking a short vacation at Boracay after this pandemic. Although it may sound impossible for now, still looking forward to everything that’s good.

My post-pandemic plan is to fly back to Philippines and be with family. There’s no place like home and I miss my dogs. I don’t know when will they open but that’s what I’m looking forward to.

If I were in the Philippines, I would explore so much of our country too! Philipines has so much to offer! One of my 2020 goals is to climb Mt. Pulag. haha. I wrote it down last January but things happen so maybe next year?

Hi Nicole! 🙂 7 on your travel bucket list are on my list too. With all the uncertainties about the future, yung bucket list ko once this pandemic is over ang talagang nagbibigay lakas ng loob sakin. You’re right about how local businesses need us kaya ako din, I’ve been supporting them the best way I know how.

Thank you for this post. I’m at a very low point right now and am kind of losing hope that things can actually get better. But yeah, i agree with everything you said and I have kind of the same plans as you. I’m excited to see my friends again and just travel again even if it is just locally.

Even before pandemic happens, we should have been supporting local businesses than foreign ones. Stop advocating foreign businesses, for example, Starbucks. Geez, so many local coffee shops that needs better support.

I love your travel list! La Union is close to my heart as it’s our go-to when my friends and I wants to go surfing. And you should definitely see Mt. Pulag – though the climb is challenging (depende sa trail) but it’s super worth it! (South) Cebu is a must – go to Oslob and see Sumilon Island (and bypass whale shark watching), then Quinale Beach in Bohol. Batanes is on my bucket list and been wanting to visit it too! Good luck too all your plans!

I love how you wrote about supporting small businesses. That is so important, especially during this time. We need to buy from small places and really help their businesses survive.

Supporting local businesses and traveling within our reach are one of the ways we can contribute to our economies while still in pandemic. A lot of locals have set up businesses due to the tourist traffic. This is also what we do here in Cyprus visiting villages whenever we can!
