Kindle 11th Gen 2024 Review: Honest Thoughts After 1 Month of Use
I’ve been using the Kindle 11th Gen (2024 version) for the past month and a half, and honestly? I’m now asking myself: why didn’t I get this sooner?

To be fair, I’ve been contemplating buying a Kindle for years. I’ve always been a physical book girlie. There’s just something about turning actual pages and the smell of a real book that no gadget can replace. And if I did need to read an eBook, I thought, “I already have an iPad, why get a Kindle?” But then TikTok happened. I kept seeing Kindle videos pop up on my fyp, and suddenly, the idea of owning one became harder and harder to ignore.
Originally, my friend and I planned to get Kindles as Christmas gifts for ourselves. We were supposed to wait until December. But the more we talked about it, the more tempting it became, until we finally gave in and ordered them early. lol
Now, a month and a half in, I can say this little device has completely changed the way I read. I never thought I’d say this, but it’s quickly become my favorite way to read.
Why I Chose the 11th Gen Basic?
After finally deciding to get a Kindle, I went for the 11th Gen Basic because it offered all the essentials I was looking for. It has a 6-inch glare-free screen, a compact and lightweight design, and just enough storage for my growing library of ebooks. The 2024 version also comes with a USB-C charging port and an improved front light, which makes it easier to read in low light.
I didn’t feel the need for extra features like warm light or waterproofing, so the basic model made the most sense for me. It felt like the right entry point into the Kindle world without spending too much.
Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve enjoyed so far:

1. It’s Lightweight and Comfortable to Hold
One of the first things I noticed is how light it is. I can read with one hand without feeling like I’m holding a brick. It’s comfortable to use whether I’m reading in bed, sitting with a coffee.
2. The Screen is Easy on the Eyes
This was a big one for me. I stare at screens all day, so I didn’t want another backlit device. The Kindle’s glare-free screen really feels like paper. It doesn’t strain my eyes even when I read for long stretches. Whether I’m under warm light in the bedroom or sitting outside, the text stays sharp and clear.
3. Battery Life is Amazing
The battery life really impressed me. It was at 47% when I first started using it, and I’ve only charged it once in the past month and a half. It’s reliable and low-maintenance, which makes it easy to just focus on reading.
4. It’s Helped Me Read More Books
Since getting my Kindle, I’ve definitely been reading more. I bring it everywhere, and it makes it so easy to sneak in a few pages during quiet moments. Plus, having multiple books in one device means I can jump between titles depending on my mood.

5. It’s Less Distracting Than an iPad or Phone
I didn’t realize how often I’d reach for my phone mid-chapter until I started using a Kindle. Since there are no social media apps or notifications, I can focus purely on reading. That makes such a difference in getting fully immersed in a book.
What I Don’t Like About It
The only downside is that mine is ad supported. When I bought it on Shopee, it didn’t specify that there are two kinds: one with ads and one without. I should have done more research before buying. I contacted Amazon to ask if they could remove the ads, but they said they couldn’t, which was frustrating. The ads don’t interrupt my reading, but they do show up on the lock screen every time I wake the device, and it makes the experience feel a bit less personal.
Final Thoughts about the Kindle 11th Gen 2024
After spending over a month with the Kindle 11th Gen, I can confidently say it’s a purchase I don’t regret. It’s simple, focused, and quietly powerful. With no apps, no colors, and no noise, it strips away distractions and lets you just read. Exactly what I was looking for.
Having a dedicated device for reading has helped me disconnect. No notifications, no tempting tabs to check, just me and the book. It feels closer to reading a real book than any screen I’ve ever used. I’ve read more consistently, more mindfully, and I’ve even started finishing books faster because my focus is better.

On top of that, I genuinely enjoyed decorating it. I picked a clear flip case and added stickers. It’s become a little reading companion that I bring with me around the house and in my bag when I go out. I wish I had bought one sooner. It fits seamlessly into my life as a new mom and someone who wants to enjoy more books without the clutter. Yes, there are still things I miss about physical books, but the Kindle makes up for it with its convenience and comfort. I know I’ll still buy physical books now and then, but this device has earned a permanent place on my nightstand. If you’ve been on the fence like I was, I think it’s worth giving it a shot.
