How Female Members of the LDS Church Dress
There are sometimes misconceptions about how people dress accordingly to their religion, especially for women. Most people think female members of The Church of Jesus Crist of Latter-Day Saints are obligated to wear only dresses or skirts, but this could not be farther from the truth.
Women can wear anything they want, but they should keep in mind the Lord’s guidelines, within them, there is room to be lively, vibrant, and beautiful both in the way a woman dress and in actions.
Following are some guidelines women can choose to follow:
Suits, jackets, and dresses
Suits, jackets, and dresses should be colorful, tailored to fit well, and professional in style.
Blouses and tops
Choose attractive, colorful blouses and tops that can be mixed and matched with a variety of skirts.
Skirts and Dress Slacks
Skirts should cover the entire knee when you are standing or sitting.
Outerwear
Coats and other outerwear should fit well and be appropriate for the climate and condition of the place you live.
Shoes and accessories
Footwear can be practical, comfortable and attractive.
Accessories should be simple and professional.
Exercise and other activities
From Jeans, pants, T-shirts, to loose-fitting exercise clothing, and gym shoes and clothes.
Personal grooming
Members should strive to look their best, especially at zone conferences, in Sunday meetings, at visitors’ centers and historic sites, at baptisms, and when working with local leaders.
Hairstyles
Combed and the length easy to manage. Color, adornments, and other accessories should not draw attention.
Makeup styles
Makeup should be natural and conservative in style and color.
These general guidelines are recommended for all members of the church but especially for those that are serving their mission, when they attend to the LDS temple or Sunday meeting, any special event and work as a leader.
Yes. I definitely agree that you can still be fashionable while being respectful to your beliefs and religion. We are all beutiful creatures here.
I've never been inside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You're right, I thought that they are required to wear long dresses. Apparently, they are just like other born again churches. We can wear anything we want as long as it looks decent.
Wearing a Sunday Dress doesn't have to be boring! So yes, I think that you can definitely look fashionable while maintaining a religious look. 🙂
