Anawangin Cove Beach Camping Experience

January 29, 2020 in Philippines, Travel
Anawangin Cove Beach Camping

Our country is truly a home to beautiful and unique beaches, and Anawangin Cove is one of them. Before 2019 ends, my boyfriend and I did an island hopping in Zambales, wherein we were able to visit Capones Island, Camara Island, and Anawangin. We camped at Anawangin and stayed there overnight. It has everything that I look forward to when it comes to excellent sceneries, accessibility, and uniqueness. Instead of the usual sand, the beach of Anawangin Cove is covered with volcanic ash of Mount Pinatubo when it erupted in 1991. The beach is also adorned with towering sea pine trees, also known as Agoho trees.

There is no electricity and mobile signal here, which makes it perfect for an escape from your usual routine. It’s a place where you can enjoy the breeze and calmness of the area, ideal for a much-needed quality time.
Beach bumming in Anawangin Cove is given. But this place is not just an excellent spot to swim, but it also has incredible views and landscapes that you need to capture. It is indeed a gem of a place in San Antonio, Zambales!

Tent Beach Camping
Camping

It’s my first time to sleep in a tent, and it feels so good! It was an off-peak season during our visit, so we had the whole island to ourselves. When the dark seized the light, we set up a bonfire to keep us warm before hitting the sack. Beach camping is a really good experience, and surprisingly I had a good night’s sleep! The sound of the ocean waves lulls me to sleep. I think I should do this often because it allows me to enjoy nature at a closer range.

If camping isn’t your thing, fear not. You can stay in Pundaquit or San Miguel, where various resorts and restaurants can be found. Remember to book them in advance, especially during peak season.

Hiking

The next day, we hike the hill nearby, which gives us a beautiful view of the sea from the hilltop. It’s just a 15 to 20-minute hike, but the trail is kinda challenging for me because I wasn’t prepared. I’m just wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and a pair of sandals. There’s a series of rocky steps at the foot of the hill, and I had to climb it barefooted because my sandals weren’t comfortable. But it’s all worth it!

I really enjoyed my stay here, experiencing the basic life from setting up a tent where you could sleep, preparing food using camping kits, and sharing the comfort rooms with others.

I cannot provide exact details when it comes to expenses and other things because I wasn’t the one who planned this trip. But I believe many tour operators offer packages that include transfers, the food at camp, tents, entrance fees, and boat rental.

But there is one thing I want to share with you: The world is so big, and we must appreciate the beauty and simplicity of nature. We should allot a time to escape the busy city and our comfort zone, and go camping once in a while. It’s a rejuvenating experience!

Anawangin is one of the most beautiful beaches I visited. I love that it's raw, not super commercialized and no signal haha!

The last time I've been to Zambales was in 2002. I was in elementary pa but I still remember how beautiful and serene the beaches were. Hope to be able to visit again one day.😊

This is beautiful. I especially like your sunset photos and the view from your hike. I haven't been to Zambales yet and now I wish I will have a chance to.

Aha! Since you mentioned that it's non-peak season when you went, I shall consider this for our next new year's trip. Sarap ng may hiking. But yeah, girl, sandals are not very convenient to use for those activities. 🙂 buti tinuloy mo pa rin, haha. I have 3 young boys and .i want to take them on hiking trips.
