Baguio is known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines because of its cold climate. I love the weather, the people and the Baguio itself! After 4 hours and a few stopovers, we arrived at Baguio at 7:00 am. My main goal for this trip was to explore a different side of Baguio, and I succeeded! It is worth a detour. This is so memorable because it is my first out of town trip with my boyfriend and I was able to visit half of the places on my list.
My original plan was to eat our brunch at Cafe Yagam since that was the first place on my list. It opens at 11am so while we are waiting, we toured the city first and went to burnham park to take a walk. It’s so clean!
We were so hungry. We ate first and tried the strawberry shake. While walking, we decided to change the original plan. It’s 9:00 am and we can’t stay there for another 2 hours so we went to BenCab Museum first. From Burnham Park, we took a taxi and after 15 mins, we arrived at BenCam Museum at 9:30am
It was beautiful! You can check my detailed post about the Museum itself here
There are lots of beautiful artworks that showcase the beauty of Cordillera
Look at the amazing view at the viewing terrace!
From street level down to the farm and garden level
After the tour inside the Museum, we went to Cafe Sabel to take a rest and a quick snack
We ordered Iced Choco, Carbonara, and Potato fries.
We went back to the city at 12:00
While we are in the taxi, we passed by the beautiful street of Baguio.
On our 2nd day in Baguio, we went to La Trinidad, Benguet.
We arrived there at 7:30am. I want to start our day with a visit to Bell Church, however it was closed. It opens at 8:00am so we went to Stobosa first to see the murals while waiting for the Church to open
From Stobosa, you can take a 5 minute walk to Bell Church. It’s only 300 meters away.
If you love temples, it is a must visit!
Next Stop is Strawberry Farm. From Bell Church we rode a jeepney going to the farm and the fare is only 10php.
There is no entrance fee but you can pick strawberries while at the farm. Farmers will provide basket (450php/1kg)
Not just Strawberries, you can also see Sunflowers, Everlasting flowers, and Lettuce
Strawberry Ice cream
After buying our Pasalubong, We went to Cafe Yagam for lunch before going home.
We arrived at exactly 11:00am. It’s 30 mins away from La Trinidad, but it’s totally worth the drive!
Baguio is surrounded with alluring coffee shops and Cafe Yagam is one of those. It is a home of good coffee and exquisite food. They serves Cordillera’s best coffee.
We tried the Yagam’s iced coffee, their best seller nachos, Chicken Pesto and blueberry cheesecake for dessert (Must try!)
It’s definitely one of the highly recommended cafes in the country because of the great food, location, instagrammable feel and the homey ambiance.
After we eat, we immediately went back to the pension house to checked out and pick up our stuffs at exactly 12 noon. The bus terminal is only few mins away from there. Travel time from Baguio to Dau is 6 hours including the stop overs and the unstoppable traffic from Pangasinan and Tarlac. I was so exhausted that day. I got home at 7pm and fell asleep the whole night.
That sums up my 2 days adventure in Baguio! Sad to say, we were not able to visit all the places on my list including Arca’s Yard, Ketchup Community, and more since we only have limited time to explore. But I’ll definitely come back!
PS: My memory card was corrupted! Luckily, I was able to transfer some of the photos to my phone (Thanks Fujifilm app!) I’ll do another blog post if the photos will be retrieved. Post cards maybe?
