Decluttering 101: Living Less with Sakura

It’s not a secret that I don’t enjoy cleaning or organizing things. For me, closet purging and decluttering can be a life long battle. I struggle in letting go of my things even if they don’t spark joy anymore. When I try to develop momentum in decluttering, it gets complicated and things get messier! As a sentimental person, it all had meaning to me even if it’s just a piece of candy wrapper, notebooks, boxes, and clothes that I bought, but never get the chance to wear .

But, after watching the series of Marie Kondo on Netflix, I pick up one very useful piece of advice that I want to live with - to keep only what you really love. It made complete sense to me and I tried it out as soon as I can. I sorted out the things that I really needed and the things that I don’t (even if in my heart, I still need them. Lol) I implemented it in all of my drawers from clothing, make-up, accessories, and other things. And guess what? It has made such a huge difference. Now I can easily see everything I have in the drawers, my clothes get much less creased.

But the problem didn’t end there. What am I supposed to do with the pile of things that I don’t really need? Should I throw them away? Give them to someone? Or.. sell them? I chose the latter. I’m glad I found a very useful website where I can sell all the things that doesn’t spark joy anymore.

Sakura is the easiest way to buy and sell brand new or second hand goods. Their mission is to create a free market online, creating new value that anyone can buy and sell. By effectively using resources, in order to reduce waste as much as possible, they launched "Sakura" in the Philippines last September 1st, which allows us to easily buy and sell products among individuals.

How it works?

If you are a seller, take photos of the item and just simply upload them on the website or app. Then add product description of the items you are selling like price, size, condition, etc. You can indicate there if it’s brand new or 2nd hand.

After posting your ad, wait for buyers to view and order your item

For buyers, just search items on Sakura or you can browse on the home page. You can choose from these different Categories from Mobile, Clothing and Accessories, Health and Beauty, Food, and Services too.

Choose an item, place an order and select payment method (Credit Card, Sakura Wallet, Cash on Delivery)then wait for sellers to ship your item and be delivered to you

With Sakura, you can shop without worries, they evaluate every seller to avoid scams or any fraudulent activities within the website. You can submit reviews and rate the sellers to help other shoppers with trust issues.

You can purchase my things here: https://www.sakura-online.asia/my-ads I already posted some of my pre-loved clothes, unused make-up and skin care products that I don’t really need, and I will be posting more items this week!!

Luckily, a great benefit of living with less is, less cleaning and organizing. By living with less, I don’t have to search for my things, reorganize drawers, and closets or shuffle papers. Things still feel sentimental to me, but now it’s mostly moments, glances, rising new moons over mountains, ocean sunsets, and precious words.

Simplicity is the way back to love. It’s the way back to people you love, work you live, and a life you love. Yes, it is impossible to declutter a whole house in a short period of time. But think of it as a journey you are on!

  3. My family's like this too. Our house is an insane clutter, and because of that our lives are a mess. My parents need a serious intervention and maybe when we finally decide to fix things up, we can use this app to sell the stuff we don't need. Hahaha. Thanks

  5. You know, one day soon, I'm gonna go all Marie Kondo on my family's stuff. Really, the clutter in the house is insane. But to your point, agree that one man's trash is another man's treasure. So, while some of my stuff no longer brings me joy, they might be of worth to someone who can find them at Sakura.

  6. I am also not too fond of organizing things and declutterring our home. This app is something to consider if ever we decide to dispose of some stuff.

  7. Unlike you, I like cleaning. There's a therapeutic feeling for me. As for the site, I am not really familiar with it. Something to look forward to.
